Dear Lord, I have prayed through every dimension of the success I am working toward — the vision and the motive, the work and the obstacles, the integrity and the generosity, the surrender and the gratitude. And I arrive here, at the closing prayer, at the question that is underneath every other question about success: What will I leave behind? Not the achievement that goes on a résumé or the recognition that goes on a plaque but the actual legacy — the people whose lives were changed by what I built, the work that outlasted the person who did it, the character that was visible enough in the success to make the God behind it undeniable. Let that be the success I am actually working toward. Let everything else be in service of that. Let the goal be aligned with the purpose and the purpose be aligned with the life You designed me to live and the life point toward a God whose name deserves to be on everything worth building.
