60 Prayers for My Boyfriend to Cover the Man on My Heart

Loving someone means wanting more for them than you can provide yourself. Prayers for my boyfriend are how you take everything you feel for him and place it in the hands of the One who loves him even more than you do.

There is something quietly powerful about praying for the person you love. Not the performative kind — but the sincere, private, nobody-is-watching prayer that happens when you are genuinely invested in someone’s wellbeing and you have run up against the limits of what love alone can do. You can be present for him. You can encourage him, support him, show up consistently in all the ways that matter. But there are things he carries that you cannot reach — the pressures he downplays, the doubts he doesn’t always say out loud, the battles happening in his mind and his spirit that need something more than what any relationship can provide. Prayer is where you bring all of that — and trust the God who knows him better than either of you does to handle what you cannot.

That’s exactly what this collection of prayers for my boyfriend is here to give you. You’ll find the best prayers for his protection and safety, his purpose and direction, his mental and emotional health, the strength he needs for what he is carrying right now, and the relationship you are both building — that it would be rooted in something deeper than feelings, guided by wisdom, and protected by a God who cares about the details of both your lives. Pray them for him privately, consistently, and with the full sincerity of someone who loves him and wants the very best that God has for his life. That kind of prayer is not small. It might be the most important thing you do for him all day.

Prayers for His Strength and Protection

There is something quietly powerful about a woman who prays for her man. Not because he can’t stand on his own — but because she knows that the strongest thing she can do for the person she loves is bring him before the God who made him. These prayers are for the moments you see him carrying more than he lets on, the days the world pushes hard against him, and the nights you just want to know he’s covered. Pray them boldly. He is worth every word.

A Prayer for His Physical Safety Every Day

Dear Lord, wherever he goes today — to work, on the road, through the ordinary moments I won’t see — go with him. Cover him in ways I cannot. What I can’t see, You see. What I can’t reach, Your hand reaches. Keep him from harm. Keep the unexpected from becoming the devastating. I’m not praying this out of fear — I’m praying it out of love, and out of trust in a God who has never once lost track of the people He loves. Keep him, Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for Strength When He Is Running Low

Heavenly Father, I can see the tiredness in him even when he doesn’t say a word about it. He pushes through. He keeps going. He carries things quietly that would undo most people. But even the strongest men have limits, and I’m asking You to be his strength when he reaches his. Your Word says You give power to the faint and increase the strength of those who have none left. That’s him today, Lord. Pour into him. Renew what has been depleted. Let him feel the difference of Your strength working where his runs out. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for Protection from the Enemy’s Schemes

God, I am not naive about the fact that there is an enemy who would love nothing more than to derail the man I love — his confidence, his peace, his faith, his future. I’m not giving that enemy a quiet foothold. I pray a wall of protection around him today — spiritually, emotionally, mentally. Every lie that comes against his identity, every distraction designed to pull him off course, every whisper meant to discourage him — let it fall flat. He belongs to You. I pray like I believe that. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for Him on a Hard Day

Lord, today has been one of those days for him. I can feel it. The weight is heavier, the joy is thinner, and I wish I could take some of it from him but I know I can’t carry what only You can. So I’m handing it to You. Lift what is pressing down on him. Give him just enough light to see the next step even if he can’t see the whole road. Remind him that hard days don’t last and that You are present in every single one of them. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer When He Faces Danger or Risk

Father, he is walking into something today that carries real risk — and while I trust him, I trust You more. You are his shield. You are the One who goes before him and stands behind him and walks beside him all at once. I am asking You to be exactly that today. Let no weapon formed against him prosper. Give him alertness, wisdom, and calm. And bring him home to me safely, because I’m not done loving him yet and I believe You’re not done using him yet either. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for His Mind Under Pressure

Dear Lord, I know how pressure affects the mind — how it narrows vision and amplifies fear and makes everything feel more urgent and more permanent than it actually is. Guard his mind today. Give him the peace that passes understanding — the kind that doesn’t make logical sense given the circumstances but comes only from You. Keep him clear-headed. Keep him from making fear-driven decisions. Anchor his thoughts to what is true, what is good, and what is Yours. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer Against Burnout

Heavenly Father, he has been giving so much for so long and I’m watching the tank get close to empty. Burnout is a real thing and I don’t want it to steal from him what took years to build. Come before the crash, Lord. Refresh him now. Teach him — and teach me — that rest is not weakness, that Your yoke is easy and Your burden is light, and that a man who rests in You is stronger than a man who runs on empty for Your sake. Restore him, Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for Courage in the Face of Fear

God, there is something he is afraid of — maybe he’s said it out loud, maybe he’s kept it close. But You know what it is. You know the exact shape of the fear that visits him in the quiet moments. I’m asking You to speak louder than that fear. Remind him that You have not given him a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and a sound mind. He is braver than he knows. Help him to feel that today. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for His Sleep and Rest

Dear Lord, when he lays his head down tonight, meet him there. Still the thoughts that refuse to stop. Quiet the replays and the worries and the mental to-do lists that turn rest into another kind of work. You give sleep to those You love — let him receive it tonight. Let his body and his mind and his spirit all exhale completely. And let him wake up tomorrow renewed in a way that only comes from You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for Healing in His Body

Father, his body is going through something right now and I’m bringing it to You because You are still the Great Physician. You made every cell, every system, every intricate part of him. Speak health over his body. Where there is pain, bring relief. Where something is out of alignment, restore order. Guide the people caring for him. And give him patience through the process, because healing asks us to wait in ways that aren’t always easy. Heal him, Lord — thoroughly and completely. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for His Heart After Hardship

God, life has not always been kind to him. He has taken hits — some he’s told me about and some he carries alone. I’m asking You to do deep work in the places where hardship has left its mark. Heal what hurt left behind. Don’t let the wounds define him or the scar tissue limit him. You make all things new — including the parts of a man that have been weathered hard by a difficult road. Make him new, Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for Spiritual Armor Over Him

Heavenly Father, I pray the full armor of God over the man I love today. Truth buckled around his waist. Righteousness across his chest. His feet ready to carry the gospel of peace wherever You send him. The shield of faith raised against every flaming arrow the enemy throws his way. The helmet of salvation settled firmly on his mind. The sword of Your Word ready in his hand. He is dressed for the day, Lord — dressed in You. Go with him. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Prayers for His Faith and Spiritual Growth

The most important thing I can ask for on behalf of the man I love has nothing to do with his job, his health, or his success — as much as I care about all of those things. It’s this: that he walks closely with God. That his faith is real, not just inherited. That he prays not out of routine but out of genuine relationship. These prayers are for his spiritual life — for the deepening of his faith, the sharpening of his discernment, and the daily growing of a man into everything God designed him to be.

A Prayer for His Personal Relationship With God

Dear Lord, I want more for him than a faith that is familiar but not close. I want him to know You — really know You — the way Abraham knew You, the way David knew You, the way a man knows a Father he trusts completely. Cultivate that in him. Draw him to Your Word. Make prayer feel less like obligation and more like oxygen. Let his relationship with You be the realest, most defining relationship in his life. Even more than what we have. Build that in him, Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for His Faith to Grow Deep Roots

Father, I pray that his faith would have roots that go down deep — deep enough that when the storms come, and they will come, he doesn’t topple. Shallow faith looks fine in easy seasons. But I want him to have the kind of faith that holds in the dark, that trusts when it can’t trace, that says “even so” when life makes no sense. That doesn’t happen without intentional growth. Water what has been planted in him. Grow him, Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for His Hunger for Scripture

God, I pray that Your Word would come alive for him. Not dry and distant — alive. The way it becomes alive when the Spirit breathes on it and suddenly a verse you’ve read a dozen times breaks open with meaning you weren’t ready for before. Give him a hunger for Scripture. Give him a discipline to sit with it and a capacity to let it sit with him. Your Word is a lamp to his feet. Help him to keep it lit. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for His Prayer Life

Dear Lord, I pray for the conversations he has with You when I’m not around. The quiet ones in the morning, the desperate ones in the car, the half-formed ones before he falls asleep. Be present in every one of them. Teach him to pray not to impress and not to perform but to connect. Let him experience the intimacy of prayer the way You designed it — two-way, living, real. And in the seasons when prayer feels dry, remind him that You are still listening. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for His Spiritual Discernment

Heavenly Father, we live in a noisy world full of voices — all of them claiming authority, many of them misleading. I’m asking You to sharpen his discernment. Help him to recognize truth and to recognize its counterfeit. Give him wisdom to navigate what is being presented to him — in his work, in his relationships, in the culture pressing on him from every direction. Let Your voice be the clearest voice in his life. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for His Integrity

God, grow in him the kind of integrity that doesn’t change depending on who is watching. The kind of character that is consistent in the light and in the dark, in public and in private, when it’s easy and when it costs him something. You see him in every room I don’t have access to. Be there. Hold him to the standard of a man who knows he is known by You. That kind of integrity is rare. Make it his. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for His Humility

Father, I love him — and because I love him I’m asking You for something that pride would resist: give him humility. Not the kind that makes him doubt his worth, but the kind that keeps him teachable, keeps him honest, keeps him close to You rather than quietly convinced he has it all figured out. Humble men are dangerous for the Kingdom in the best way. They can be trusted with more because they give the glory away. Shape that in him, Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for His Forgiveness and Freedom From the Past

Dear Lord, there are things in his past that the enemy loves to bring back up — mistakes, failures, shame-soaked memories that whisper he hasn’t changed and doesn’t deserve grace. I rebuke that lie right now. Your Word says that there is therefore now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. Let that truth settle in the deepest part of who he is. He is forgiven. He is free. Help him to live in that freedom instead of dragging chains that have already been broken. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for His Identity in Christ

God, I want him to know — really know, not just intellectually — who he is in You. Chosen. Beloved. Made with intention and purpose. Fearfully and wonderfully constructed by a God who doesn’t make mistakes. When the world chips away at his confidence, when comparison sneaks in, when he measures himself against a standard that was never Yours — anchor him back to this. He is Your son. That is the most defining thing about him. Let him live from that truth. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for His Obedience in the Hard Things

Heavenly Father, obedience is easy when it costs nothing. I’m asking You to build in him an obedience that holds even when it’s costly — when following You means saying no to something appealing, taking the harder road, or trusting a direction that doesn’t make sense to the people around him. Let him be the kind of man who does what You ask even when he doesn’t fully understand why. That is where faith becomes real. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for His Willingness to Be Accountable

Dear Lord, no man grows well in isolation. I pray that he has — or finds — men in his life who will speak truth to him, who will ask hard questions and expect real answers, who will love him enough to not let him coast. Good accountability isn’t easy to find and harder to keep. But it is worth everything. Give him that. Give him the humility to want it. Give him the community that provides it. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for His Spiritual Leadership

Father, I believe in the man You are making him. And part of what I see You making him into is someone who leads — with integrity, with prayer, with the kind of quiet confidence that comes from a man who follows You first. I’m not asking for perfection. I’m asking for willingness. A man who is willing to lead spiritually, to pray out loud, to seek You together with me — that is a gift. Grow him toward that, Lord, in Your timing and in Your way. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Prayers for His Heart, Mind, and Emotions

Men carry more than they say. That is not a criticism — it is just a truth that any woman who loves one knows deeply. He processes differently, holds differently, and sometimes struggles differently than the world gives him credit for. These prayers are for the interior life of the man you love — the thoughts that chase him, the emotions he hasn’t found words for yet, the heart that needs just as much tending as anyone else’s, even if he would never ask for it out loud.

A Prayer for His Emotional Health

Dear Lord, I pray for the emotional world of the man I love — the parts he shares with me and the parts he hasn’t found a way to share yet. Give him the safety to feel what he feels. Give him the language to say what’s actually going on inside him. Protect him from the cultural lie that strength means silence. You created him with a full emotional range on purpose. Help him to live in it honestly, without shame and without suppression. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for His Thought Life

God, guard the gate of his mind. In a world that bombards constantly with images, comparisons, voices and distractions, I ask that You give him a renewed mind — one that knows how to hold thoughts captive, how to take what is good and build on it and release what is not. Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right — let that be the soundtrack of his inner world. He cannot do that alone. Do it with him, in him, through him. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for Peace When He Is Anxious

Heavenly Father, I know when the anxiety has him — even if he doesn’t say so. It shows in small ways. I’m bringing it to You the way he might not bring it himself yet. Come into the anxious places in his mind and in his chest and replace the spiral with Your peace. Not a peace that ignores reality — but the peace that guards his heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the peace that genuinely surpasses the ability to understand it. Give him that, Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for His Joy

Dear Lord, I want him to have real joy — not just the performance of it, not the surface happiness that comes and goes with good circumstances. The deep, settled, anchored joy that comes from knowing You. On the days when life is ordinary, let him find joy in the ordinary. On the days when life is hard, let him find joy in You. You are the source of every real joy he has ever experienced. Keep him close to the source. In Jesus’ name, amen.

75 Deep Things to Say to Your Boyfriend Over Text

A Prayer for Healing From Old Wounds

Father, some of what shapes him happened long before I came into his life. Wounds from childhood, from loss, from relationships that left marks they had no right to leave. I’m not trying to be his healer — I know I’m not equipped for that. But You are. Go back into those early places and do what time alone cannot do. Heal the boy inside the man. Restore what was taken from him before he was old enough to protect it. Make him whole, Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for His Self-Worth

God, he is worthy of love. He is worthy of good things. He is worthy of the life You designed for him — not because he has earned it but because You made him and You don’t make things without value. I pray against every voice in his head that tells him otherwise. Every comparison that makes him feel small, every failure that makes him feel disqualified, every version of not-enough that has taken up space in him. Replace it with the truth of who You say he is. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for His Patience With Himself

Heavenly Father, he is harder on himself than he should be. He holds himself to a standard that leaves no room for being human, for growing at a pace that isn’t instant, for the grace that You built into the process of becoming. Teach him to be patient with himself the way You are patient with him. You are not finished with him. The work is still in progress. Help him to live with the peace of a man who trusts the One doing the work. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for His Grief

Dear Lord, there is grief in him — maybe grief he hasn’t even fully identified yet. Loss has touched his life and left things undone and unresolved. I’m not asking You to rush the grief. I’m asking You to be present in it. You are the God of all comfort. You don’t stand at a distance from the pain of the people You love — You come close. Come close to him in his grief. Let him feel that he is not grieving alone. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for His Temper and Quick Reactions

Father, we all have the places where we respond faster than we should. I pray for the places in him where reaction runs ahead of wisdom — where frustration flares, where the tongue gets ahead of the heart. Give him a pause. Give him the grace to breathe before he speaks and to think before he acts. A man slow to anger is better than a mighty warrior. Grow that slowness in him — not passivity, just the grace to respond rather than react. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for His Loneliness

God, even in a relationship — even when love is good and present — a person can feel alone. There is a kind of loneliness that no human love can fully touch. I know that. And I’m asking You to fill the places in him that I cannot reach. Be the companion for his soul. Let him feel truly known — by You first, and then by me. He should never feel like he is navigating the deeper things alone. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for Generosity of Spirit

Dear Lord, I pray for a generosity to grow in him that spills into everything — how he gives his time, his attention, his resources, his kindness. Not a generosity driven by guilt but one that flows from a heart so filled with Your goodness that it naturally overflows onto the people around him. Make him the kind of man who makes others feel seen and valued. Make him the kind of man who gives freely because he has received freely. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for His Laughter and Lightness

Heavenly Father, don’t let the weight of life make him forget how to laugh. Protect the lightness in him — the wit, the humor, the ability to find joy in small and ridiculous things. Life will work hard to press that out of him. I’m asking You to preserve it. A man who can laugh is a man who still has hope. Keep the hope alive in him, and let the laughter follow naturally behind it. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Prayers for His Purpose, Work, and Future

Every man is carrying a question underneath everything else he carries — a question about whether his life matters, whether his work counts, whether the direction he’s going is the right one. These prayers are for the purpose God planted in him before he was born, for the work his hands do every day, and for the future that neither of you can fully see yet. Pray them over him with confidence. God does not waste the people He makes.

A Prayer for Clarity in His Calling

Dear Lord, I pray for clarity over his calling. Not just his career — his calling. The specific, irreplaceable thing You placed him here to do. The contribution only he can make, the people only he can reach, the purpose only he can carry. If he is confused about direction right now, be the lamp to his feet. You don’t need him to see the whole road — just the next step. Show him that step clearly and give him the courage to take it. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer Over His Work

Father, I lift his work to You today. The tasks, the challenges, the relationships, the decisions that will be made between now and the end of his day. Let him do his work with excellence — not to impress anyone, but as an offering to You. Let him be known as a man of integrity at work. Let his colleagues feel the difference that his presence makes. And in the moments when the work feels meaningless, remind him that You make even ordinary work significant when it’s done in Your name. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for Wisdom in Big Decisions

God, he is facing a decision that matters — one that could shape the next season in a significant way. I’m asking You to do what Your Word promises: give wisdom generously to those who ask. Speak clearly. Close the wrong doors firmly and open the right ones in a way he can’t miss. Give him peace about the path You’re choosing for him even before he fully understands it. I trust You with his decisions more than I trust either of us with them. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for His Financial Provision

Heavenly Father, You are his provider. Not his employer, not the economy, not his own resourcefulness alone — You. I’m asking You to provide for him in practical, tangible ways. Open doors of opportunity. Give him wisdom with what he has. Protect him from financial decisions rooted in fear or pride. And in the seasons when provision is thin, guard him from the shame that financial struggle can bring to a man who just wants to take care of the people he loves. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for His Work Relationships

Dear Lord, he doesn’t work in isolation — he works with people, and people are complicated. I pray over his professional relationships. Give him wisdom with colleagues who are difficult. Give him humility with those who are ahead of him. Give him generosity with those coming up behind him. Let him be known as a man who is trustworthy, fair, and genuinely good to work with. Let his faith show in the texture of how he treats people, even when they don’t know what they’re seeing. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for His Dreams and Ambitions

God, I don’t want his dreams to die. Not the ones planted by ego, maybe — but the ones You put in him before anyone talked him out of them. The ones that light something up in his eyes when he talks about them. I’m asking You to tend those dreams. Protect them from discouragement, from practical fear, from the slow erosion of a life lived too safe. If those dreams are Yours, make a way for them. And if they need to be refined, refine them — but don’t let them just quietly disappear. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for His Leadership at Work

Father, I believe You have placed him in his role for a reason that goes beyond a paycheck. Use him there. Let his presence bring something others can’t quite name but genuinely feel. Grow his leadership in ways that aren’t just about strategy and competence but about character. A leader who walks with You is a different kind of leader entirely. Make him that. Give him favor with those above him and the trust of those beside and below him. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer When He Faces Failure or Setback

Dear Lord, something didn’t work out the way he hoped and the disappointment is real. Don’t let failure be the thing that defines the conversation he has with himself about who he is. Every person who has ever done anything worthwhile has failed somewhere on the road to it. Teach him what this moment carries. Then help him get back up. You are not done with him. This is not the end of his story. Resurrect what feels dead in this situation. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for His Future

Heavenly Father, I don’t know exactly what his future holds and I’m learning to be okay with that because I know You hold it. I’m asking You to go ahead of him into every season that is coming — the ones I’ll walk through with him and the ones only You can see right now. Make the path clear. Remove the obstacles that don’t belong there. And above everything else, make sure that at every turn in his story, he is walking toward You. That is the only future I actually need for him. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for His Legacy

God, I pray about the mark he leaves on this world. Not fame — legacy. The difference he made in real lives. The faith he passed on. The character that outlives him in the people who knew him. Help him to live in a way that builds something lasting. Something beyond success as the world measures it. Help him to understand, in the ordinary moments of his life, that how he treats people and how he follows You is always, always building something. Make it something beautiful. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for Perseverance Through a Long Season

Dear Lord, he has been pressing forward through something that hasn’t resolved quickly. The endurance required is the kind that tests everything. I’m asking You to give him what he cannot manufacture on his own — the ability to keep going when the finish line is nowhere in sight. You are a rewarder of those who diligently seek You. You do not let faithful effort disappear into nothing. Hold him steady. Give him signs of progress even when progress feels invisible. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for His Mentors and Community

Father, no man grows well alone. I pray that You surround him with the right people — mentors who have walked the road he is on and can speak from honest experience, friends who sharpen him rather than just affirm him, a community of faith where he can be real. Bring those relationships to him. And give him the wisdom to recognize them and the humility to invest in them when they arrive. Iron sharpens iron. Give him good iron. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Prayers for Our Love and What We’re Building Together

These prayers are for us. For the relationship itself — the thing that is larger than either of us alone and smaller than what it will one day become. Love between two people who bring God into it is a different thing entirely. It is tender and durable at the same time. It makes room for imperfection without making peace with stagnation. These prayers are for the love that is already worth protecting, and for everything God is still making it into.

A Prayer for God to Be the Center of Our Relationship

Dear Lord, be the center of what we have. Not an afterthought, not a blessing we ask for at the end of a prayer about other things — the actual center. The thing our relationship is built on and orbits around. When we put You in the middle, everything else finds its right place. When we let You drift to the edges, everything gets harder to hold. Keep Your place at the center of us, Lord. We don’t want to build this on anything less than You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for the Way We Communicate

Father, give us the kind of communication that builds rather than tears down. Help us to say what we mean without weaponizing how we say it. Give us ears to really hear each other — not just to respond, not just to be right, but to genuinely understand. When conversations get hard, give us the grace to stay in them. When we need to say something difficult, give us the courage to say it with love. Let our words to each other always, always be kind. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for Patience With Each Other

God, we are two imperfect people trying to love each other well — and some days that is harder than we expected. Give us patience. Real patience. The kind that doesn’t keep score, that doesn’t sigh with exhaustion every time the other person needs something again, that sees the humanity in the other person and responds with grace instead of frustration. We chose each other. Help us to keep choosing each other, even in the unromantic, ordinary, difficult moments of everyday love. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for Trust Between Us

Dear Lord, let there be real trust between us — the kind that is built slowly and protected carefully. Help us to be people who are trustworthy: consistent in what we say, honest when it’s uncomfortable, reliable in the small things before the large ones. And where trust has been damaged or is still being built, give us the patience to do the work. Shortcuts don’t produce real trust. Help us to do it the slow, right way. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for Our Friendship

Heavenly Father, underneath the romance and the love and everything we’re building — I want us to be friends. Real friends. The kind who can talk about anything, who can be boring together and not feel the need to perform, who laugh at the same things and care about what the other cares about. Romantic love that has deep friendship underneath it can survive almost anything. Give us that foundation. Let us like each other as much as we love each other. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for Unity in Hard Seasons

God, hard seasons are coming — they come for every relationship that lasts long enough. I’m not asking You to keep them away. I’m asking You to make us the kind of couple that comes through them closer rather than further apart. When pressure hits us, don’t let it push us against each other. Let it push us toward You and toward each other. Let every hard thing we survive together become a stone in the foundation of something that can’t be easily shaken. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for Our Physical and Emotional Boundaries

Dear Lord, give us wisdom and discipline to honor each other well — physically, emotionally, in every dimension of how we relate. Give us the self-control that comes from the Holy Spirit. Help us to build something we are proud of, something we don’t have to undo or apologize for later. Let the boundaries we keep be a form of love — for each other and for the future You are building for us. Honor is not old-fashioned. Help us to choose it. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for Grace When We Get It Wrong

Father, we are going to hurt each other. Not maliciously — just humanly. And in those moments, help us to choose grace quickly. Not to minimize what happened, not to pretend it didn’t matter, but to extend to each other the same mercy You extend to us daily. We can’t hold each other to a standard we can’t meet ourselves. Teach us to forgive the way we want to be forgiven — completely, without holding the record. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for Our Future Together

Dear Lord, I don’t know exactly where this is going — but I believe You do. If this is the love You have for me, the person I am supposed to grow old alongside, then build it. Build it strong. Build it on the right things from the beginning. And if You have something You need to teach us first, individually or together, don’t let us rush past the lesson to get to the destination. I trust You with our future more than I trust my own hope for it. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer of Thanks for the Love He Gives

God, thank You for a man who loves me. Not perfectly — but genuinely. Thank You for the specific ways he shows up for me, for the ways he sees me that I didn’t know I needed to be seen, for the ordinary Tuesday moments that no one else would think to call a gift but I know are. I don’t want to take him for granted. I don’t want to stop noticing. Keep me grateful — not just when things are good, but on the complicated days too. Thank You for him. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer to Cover Him With Love Right Now

Father, right now, in this moment — I cover him. I cover him with love. With prayer. With the belief that You are doing something good in him, something I may only see in glimpses right now, something that will one day be undeniable. I don’t need to understand everything about him to love him. I don’t need to have all the answers about us to trust You with both of us. So tonight I simply pray: hold him. Cover him. Keep him. He is the man on my heart and I’m trusting You with everything that means. In Jesus’ name, amen.
